Record box office and Lauryn Hill: how Kanye West staged a comeback against all odds

Kanye West returned to the big stage - and immediately with historic results. In early April, the rapper played two sold-out concerts at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, raising a total of $33 million - a record for this venue.

68,000 spectators came to the stadium every evening. The stage was made in the shape of a giant globe: the backlight changed it to the Moon, then to the rotating Earth. Ye performed right at the top of the structure, secured by a safety cable, towering over the stadium as fireworks and laser beams pierced the air. The show lasted more than two hours and covered material from 20 years of the artist's career.

Special guests on the first evening were the artist's daughter North West and rapper Don Toliver. At the second show, Travis Scott, Cee Lo Green and Lauryn Hill took the stage.

The album “Bully”, dedicated to the concerts, debuted in 2nd place on the Billboard 200: 56,000 physical copies sold and 98 million streams in the first week.

Kanye West will continue his tour in the summer with performances planned in the UK, Italy, Spain and Turkey.
